Popup Books Really Fast

Chris Perry

Activity:

Here are a few different methods for making things pop! These techniques include ways to make your popup books fold out, stand up, and flip over. They are organized from least to most complex. Don't be afraid to ask for help!

Part 1: Getting Started

Choose 1-2 popup mechanisms to build on your own or with a partner. Follow the instructions in the slides above. You will need paper, scissors, glue, and tape. If you get inspired, try making a few different popups!

Part 2: What Can You Make Pop?

Spend a few minutes thinking about what how you could use these popup mechanisms to make something on your own. What can you bring to life? It could be your name, your favorite animal, or a character from a story! Draw a few pictures of what you might build.

Once you have your drawing, you can cut it out and attach it to your popup. You can always make a new popup, or use tape or glue to connect your drawing to one you made before.

Submission:

Take three pictures of your popup and email them to Ms. Ray:

  1. All the way closed
  2. Halfway open
  3. All the way open
